Carefully crafted luxury furniture that lasts

Strand Road is new, but owner Joanna Kenneally is not new to the furniture industry.

Joanna helped her father John put together teak furniture as a toddler in Sydney, Australia in the early 1980's. Always wanting to sit up next to him in the delivery truck (better views) and busy setting up shop with the company compliment slips and shop till in their Roseville garden, it was a given she’d follow in her parent’s footsteps.

Throughout high school Joanna worked weekends at the head office showroom in the beautiful Southern Highlands where they moved when she was eight. She’s experienced every area of the business, from accounts to warehousing to sales and marketing. The company had several showrooms in NSW, Victoria and Queensland and a network of succesful stockists in the other states.

In 2005 Joanna came to Ireland to attend Ballymaloe Cookery School’s first April 12 Week Course. She met her husband, a  Ballycotton fisherman, and from 2007 to 2014 they lived in Australia, first working in and then taking over the family business. A return to Ireland and a fishing boat in 2014 meant a busy couple of years running the company from afar until it’s sale in 2016.

Now with two children well on their way through primary school, and after a brief stint back at Ballymaloe Cookery School as a teacher, Joanna felt the time was right to bring her extensive knowledge and access to high quality brands to her own shop here in East Cork.

We believe in selling products that are...

Many individuals and businesses are making conscious choices to prioritize sustainability, opting for quality over convenience. At Strand Road, our products are designed to last, often passed down through generations. Customers can build their collections over time without the pressure of purchasing sets or meeting minimum quantities.

Our furniture and homewares, made from materials like teak wood, rattan, and steel, are sourced responsibly and can be reused or recycled, including their packaging. For example, Vincent Sheppard’s kraft paper Lloyd Loom chairs are painted to order, allowing for easy customization. If tastes change, the chairs can be resprayed, making them ideal for long-term use.

In Australia, restaurants and hotels have refreshed their Strand Road furniture even after 15-20 years, proving that sustainability and style can go hand in hand.
